First it was "Beer-gate." Then it was "Handshake-gate." Now it's "Phone-gate." Good lord, sports have created some pretty lame controversies over the past couple weeks. What's next -- Bottlecap-gate? Pineapple-gate? Eyebrow-gate?

This is the stupidest controversy of them all. I'm sorry, but couldn't Tony La Russa have simply picked up the phone again and told the bullpen who he really wanted to throw? Honestly, how hard would that have been?

Every second Tony La Russa blames someone is a second that fills me with uncontrollable rage, as though I'm having an aneurism that he can even attempt to get away with it. IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE A PHONE, YOU CANNOT PASS THE BUCK! It's a phone for God's sake! Just call again! $#@!%&*

20,000 days since a nice doubleheader for Milwaukee

Via The Hardball Times, today marks 20,000 days since an interesting doubleheader that saw Eddie Matthews do well in spite of a bar fight, and Warren Spahn tossing a shutout. As interesting as that is, the real story is that someone remembered that a specific double-header happened 20,000 days ago. THT should write a follow-up story on how exactly someone remembered that. Seems sorta peculiar.

Kevin Love puts together NBA's first 30-30 game since 1982

Kevin Love puts together NBA's first 30-30 game since 1982

It's worth noting that Kevin Love single-handedly produced more rebounds on Friday than the Big Three of James, Bosh and Wade did, combined, against Boston. Even more noteworthy is the fact that Amare Stoudemire, whose porous defense allowed Love to collect 31 rebounds, still managed to collect more rebounds (9) than Bosh and Wade did, combined, against Boston (8).
