5/19/1979 - Phillies unveil one-day uniforms
At Veterans Stadium, the Philadelphia Phillies debut an all-burgundy alternate uniform that was supposed to be worn every Saturday. However, the "Saturday Night Specials" were ridiculed so heavily that the Phillies never wore them again.
5/19/2005 - Reggie plays final game
Reggie Miller did not win a championship in his NBA career, but he did go out better than almost everyone else who ever played.
In the years leading up to his retirement, Miller was more than deferential to teammates O'Neal and Artest. But with one injured and the other suspended, Miller stepped up and led the team in scoring in his final NBA game. However, it wasn't enough to force a Game 7 against the Pistons.
