1/04/2003 - Falcons snap Lambeau streak

The Atlanta Falcons end the Green Bay Packers' home winning streak in the postseason.

Green Bay had won every home playoff game since the NFL initiated a postseason in 1933. Their last 11 wins had come at the snowy fortress known as Lambeau Field, and the Falcons -- who were a dome team and were up against one of the best cold weather QB's ever in Brett Favre -- were big underdogs to prevail. But with the help of several Packer injuries and a solid performance from quarterback Michael Vick, the Falcons easily won, 27-7.

''One day it had to come to an end," Vick had told his team during the week. "Why not let us be the team to do it?''

Green Bay came in with injuries to running back Ahmad Green, receiver Terry Glenn, and defensive back Darren Sharper. Green could only muster 34 yards rushing while the Falcons ran for 192. Glenn only caught one pass and Sharper missed the game entirely. With the momentum completely in their favor, the Falcons took advantage. 10 minutes in, with the birds leading 14-0, the game was already over.

Favre tried to mount a comeback in third quarter with the score at 24-0. On the Packers opening drive of the half, Favre completed a 14-yard touchdown pass to Donald Driver that put Green Bay on the board. However, Driver injured his shoulder on the play and didn't return, leaving Favre without his top receiver. Atlanta later tacked on a field goal to finish things at 27-7.

The loss was also the first of Favre's career when the temperature was below freezing at home -- he had previously been 35-0. Atlanta would go on to face the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round, where a few penalties cost them from making it interesting. Philadelphia won but would once again lose in the NFC Championship Game, this time to the eventual-champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

1/04/2006 - Young rush wins Rose Bowl

With a win in the 2006 championship game, the USC Trojans would've been known as one of the greatest college teams of all time. A victory would've given them their third consecutive national championship, a feat that hadn't been accomplished in decades. But at the end of the day, Vince Young was simply better than the Trojans, and he guided his Texas squad to a national title.
