1/11/1970 - Chiefs win Super Bowl IV
Proving that the New York Jets' Super Bowl III victory was no fluke, the Kansas City Chiefs of the AFL crush the Minnesota Vikings of the NFL, 23-7, in Super Bowl IV. Like in Super Bowl III, the Chiefs came in as double-digit underdogs, but were nonetheless decisive in their victory over the NFL competitor. Chiefs quarterback Len Dawson -- who completed 12 of 17 passes with 142 passing yards and a touchdown -- was named the game's MVP.
With the win, the perception many people held that the AFL was inferior to the NFL was permanently dropped. Super Bowl IV was also the final Super Bowl to occur before the two leagues officially merged; after that, the championship was no longer a battle of NFL and AFL teams, but of NFC and AFC teams.
1/11/1987 - Broncos win on Elway drive
The Denver Broncos win an overtime game against the Cleveland Browns, thanks largely to one of the most celebrated drives in NFL history. The game ended on a kick from Rich Karlis, which many Browns fans contended he actually missed.
