I don’t (too young), but Fidrych was definitely a major highlight of late ’70s sport. After he died in April, I wrote about his declining years as a pitcher. His career was over by mid-1983. It sounds like he and Joe Charboneau are very similar cases: two phenoms whose star dimmed fast, and then they starting living pretty obscure, ordinary lives.
