Who's your daddy is making a comeback

Should the Phillies win tonight, and should the Phillies and the Yankees meet in the World Series, then that means that we're going to be hearing this again for the first time in five years. Pedro Martinez once famously said that the Yankees were "his daddy," leading the Yankee fans to replace the "Let's go Yankees" chant with "Who's your daddy?"

Well since then, Pedro skipped to the Mets, where he got injured and was spared the chance to hear this. But now it appears that Mr. Martinez will once again go up against his baseball father. Of course if the Phillies lose tonight, and Pedro is forced to pitch in Game 6 or 7, then Martinez might not throw in Games 1 or 2 of the World Series, thus relieving him from having to return to Yankee Stadium.

As a Mets fan

it makes me so unbelievably depressed that Pedro never pitched a postseason game for us, and now he’s pitching for them. Especially b/c a healthy Pedro probably gets us to the 2006 World Series. Not to mention 2007….ugh…

Given the way things shake out

He probably doesn’t see Yankee Stadium in Games 1 or 2. Lee is Game 1 and Hamels is probably Game 2.

Damn

I figured Pedro would start Game 2 since Hamels just threw in Game 5. But the WS start until the 28th, so there’s enough time to rest him. Ah well.

There is still an outside chance it could happen

"Polamalu’s lineage can be traced through several roots. Chuck Norris mated with an Amazon Queen, and on the other side, Tony Hawk mated with Mother Nature. The two children of these spawned and fused in a tantric love session to create Troy Polamalu. The mother however died as he tore through the birth canal with a spin move."

I kind of think he should

And use Hamels for game 3 at home, but Manuel has a history of sticking to his guns.
