Golf back in the Olympics after 100 years

The 2016 Olympics will feature a sport that it hasn't had in 102 years: golf. Who could have imagined a century ago that there'd be a greater clamoring for international golf than there'd be for international baseball?

Personally, I think this is a fantastic decision. If you really want to show off the beauty and elegance of your country -- which is the whole point of having the Olympics -- then why not add an event where all you'll see is forests and lakes? Plus, it's one more Olympic sport where I can actually recognize some of the people who are competing in it; besides Michael Phelps and the U.S. basketball team, I can't name another U.S. Olympian from 2008.

Ignorant answer

I have absolutely no idea. All I know is that it can’t possibly be more popular than soccer, but then again, nothing is.
